03:30 AM THOUGHTS

6 de mai. de 2015

This is it.

These past couple of days have been very emotional. On Tuesday, I said goodbye to one of my best friends here, and today to other really really really close friends. Tomorrow, it will be even harder as most of my other friends are also leaving, and on the 15th of may… I can’t even let myself imagine what it will feel like.

This is it.

This whole abroad experience has been enlightening. I spent nine months with half of these people, and four with the other half. It might not look like a lot, but I know first hand how four months can change someone forever. We breathed the same air, stressed over the same things, complained (a lot of times) about the same people, ate at the same place (TDR, how I will miss you… not!), sang the same songs, danced to the same rhythm, and created unbreakable bonds that only we understand. What we shared is unique. Each one of us will leave American University carrying with us fragments of each other. I, for one, know that I will always carry a little bit of Egypt, France, Spain (oh, sorry! Catalunia), Guatemala, Nigeria, and Montenegro. That’s the beauty of the whole thing.

This is it.

With that being said, I just want to say thanks to everyone that made this year abroad as memorable as it could be. From the Miami days and nights, to the AU study sessions in the library, passing through the “is anyone in TDR?”, you guys made this much better and much more enjoyable for me. DC is no Europe or Brazil, but you guys sure helped me have a good time and feel at home. Now, all there is left is keep on following your adventures all over the world. Go on and conquer it all. I can’t wait to see where life will take us next.

This is it. This is over.

So long, AU. It's been one hell of a ride.
